Safely remove hardware message keep popping up

Jud

I keep getting a message at my Safely remove hardware Icon telling me that I
can remove my CD-ROM drive, but I did not click to stop the device at all.

This happens like every other minute even though I keep clicking it away,
and then another message keeps popping up saying my CD drive CANNOT be
removed, when I didn't try to remove it at all!

Very irritating, anyone can tell me how I can stop this from happening?

I'm running XP and my CD drive is working perfectly fine otherwise.

Your help is appreciated with thanks. :)

If you system is doing things that you have not requested, you need to
run several anti-virus / anti-spyware scans.

I ran my scans sometime last week, but both before and after the scan, the
same problem still exists.

Is there any other way I can check what's wrong?

It might be worth a shot to open up your side panel, unplug the drive from
the connector, boot up and see what happens. Then shut down, plug it back in
again and let your computer find it again.

Before you do this, remove the power cord from your wall outlet before you
unplug it and before you plug it back in. It's also important to wear an
anti-static wrist band with the grounding clip attached to your computer
case. Also, make sure that your floppy drive is 1st in the boot squence in
BIOS first. If you've updated the drivers for it, that can cause problems
with it also.
