To create a shortcut that performs the same function as the "Safely Remove
Hardware" icon on your desktop.
First create a new shortcut (right-click on an empty area of the desktop
and choose NEW > SHORTCUT).
When you come to the box labelled "Type the location of the item" , copy
and paste the following into the box :
rundll32 shell32,Control_RunDLL Hotplug.dll
...then press [Next>] and name it "Safely Remove Hardware" on the next
page.
Press [Finish] to exit.
You can then change the icon by right-clicking on the shortcut and
choosing 'Properties', then under the 'Shortcut' tab, click on the 'Change
Icon' button.
Navigate (browse) to the file :
C:\WINDOWS\system32\Hotplug.dll
...to get the same icon for your shortcut as is on the one that appears in
the taskbar.
