Safe to delete files in local settings/temp?

There is a large (71MB)hidden temp folder under local settings in my user
account on win2k. The files contained there are mostly installer files from
various updates/service packs that I have installed as part of the OS install
process. Is it safe to delete these files, or are they stored in hidden
folders because they are not safe to delete or will be used if I want to
change the installation in some way?

TIA

Assuming that folder is literally named "Temp", you can delete anything
that remains in there safely if you restart the machine first to ensure
that any pending installs or uninstalls have completed, and then empty the
folder before starting an install or uninstall.

It is indeed named "temp", was just concerned because of the amount of stuff
in there, and the type of stuff it is, the installer files in particular.

Thanks for the response.

Those files are all supposed to be deleted when the installation finishes,
but some installation routines aren't very good about cleaning up after
themselves, and occasionally an installation will be interrupted before
it can finish the cleanup.
