S3 GRAPHICS DRIVER WINDOWS XP INCOMPATIBILITY

My computer sometimes shuts down due to a graphic driver error. Apparently
the S3 graphics driver is not compatible with Windows XP and the company who
made the graphics card is no longer supporting the product. I have
downloaded supposed drivers from the net but they aren't recognised by the
computer when I try to install them. I can't afford to get a new graphics
card right now. I am using a very trusty Compaq Presario 7800. I was
wondering if anybody has experienced the same problem, and if there might be
a solution. Many thanks

I've *never* had a problem with any s3 graphics cards with XP.

Try going into the control panel and deleting your video card

then reboot and let windows install it again
