rundll32.exe takes 99% CPU power and cannot be killed

Hi,

sometimes (a few times per week or so) my system goes to
a virtual standstill. Going to the task manager reveals
that the process rundll32.exe takes 99-100% of CPU power,
and that it cannot be killed.

As far as I know this does not happen when I use some
unusual program, typically only Outlook and Explorer are
running, I think.

The only temporary solution I know is to reboot the
system.

Does anybody know what may be causing this and how the
problem can be permanently solved?

Thanks.

Sounds like you have your system to do a disc cleanup or
defrag go to control panel/classic if needed/scheldled
tasks and reset the time for tings to run.

Scan your computer for viruses. The rundll32 file on my
computer was infected with a trojan horse a few weeks
ago. It is called backdoor or something like that. If
that is the problem, you might have to reinstall the
operating system. Do you have xp?
