Rules in Outlook 2003

Hello all

I'm trying to set up some simple redirect rules using Outool 2003 /Exchange
2003. But I need to clarify a problem.

If I set up the redirect using the "when message arrives" rule, this will
work only when the user's outlook is open, correct? If so, is there a way to
set the rule on the server?

The rule is set on the server. It'll work even when Outlook isn't open.
I have many rules setup to redirect to different folders and they all work
when I don't have Outlook running.
I Assume this is Exchange 2003 wth Outlook 2003?

The "redirect" rule has nothing to do with folders. Nonetheless, you are
correct that it should work even with Outlook closed.

crossed wires perhaps.

Using rules I Move emails to different folders. Redirect certianly is
something different.

Could you give us some details on the setup of your server and client?

Exchange server 2003/outlook 2003

I need to redirect mails coming to an acount A to an external acount. I've
tried to created a contact in the AD, then seting the user A to send a copy
to the contact, but it doesn't work. Can't even see the contact in the AD...

So I was trying to use outlook rules. I've even tried to use rules in the
outlook webaccess, but the rules don't work...

It isn't what? Working? Perhaps, then, the address to which you are trying
to redirect the message is in a contacts folder local to the Outlook
instance and is not one in the GAL. If that's the case, then it's
understandable. If the rule references data on the local PC, naturally
Outlook will need to be open in order to execute the rule.
