Rstrui.exe

Gary

I have tried unsuccessfully(several times) to do a system
restore(as administrator, and in safe mode).
I get an error message: Rstrui.exe Entry Point not found.
The procedure entry point Remote assistance Prepare System
Restore could not be located in the dynamic link library.
Winsta.dll
I have also tried reinstalling Windows, and that didn`t
work.
I cannot, as well, reinstall Norton Antivirus. It stops
part way through the install," due to an error"
What is can I do to fix this???
Please help!!!
Thanks in advance for any advice

.
you need to reapply all the critical windows update sp1
has a fix for the system restore issue.

use the symantec site and search for the exact error
message norton is giving you.

Restore is not reliable program. If you're using as a
back-up you should consider something else.

You can turn it off from Control Panel > System > and
then> re-boot and it will purge it's file. Then re-boot,
turn> it back on.

And try this if the above does not work.

1. Put the in the Windows XP CD
2. Click Start , Run
3. Type the following then OK

rundll32.exe advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection
C:\Windows\Inf\sr.inf

You can also open Windows Explorer, go to
C:\Windows\Inf folder and right-click sr.inf (Then
Install)

System Restore is not a cure for all problems, and is certainly
not a substitute for a backup. But it is a very useful feature,
one that has gotten me and many others out of trouble many times.
