"RPC" Remote Procedure Call

J

Just loaded XP Home edition on my computer and loaded my
DSL service. When I'm on line trying to get Critical
Updates, my computer gets the message "system shutdown",
by way of the NT Authority System, saying there is a
problem with the Remote Procedure Call, "RPC". I can't
stay on line long enough to get the updates I need that
may solve this problem. Is this problem with the
operating system or with my DSL service. Of course, any
info anyone can offer to fix this problem, would be
greatly appreciated. JH

Apparently, your computer has an unwelcome visitor (VIRUS) known
as the WM32 Blaster/Lovsan WORM.

It entered the computer through the internet connection because the "firewall"
was not properly enabled and essential critical updates were not installed from
the Windows Update website. For instructions on fixing the problem, visit:

If your computer is constantly attempting to shutdown
or reboot, quickly go to:

Start > Run and type: CMD , and hit enter.
This opens the Command Prompt window.

Then type: shutdown -a , and hit enter.

This should halt the rebooting problem.

Then immediately turn-on Windows XP's built-in Firewall:

Sounds like the recent (1 month ago) Blaster virus.
Get antivirus patch + MS security update from net.
Good luck from
Steve
