Routing problem - W2k3

B

Bosko Marcic

Here is the scenario:
There is a LAN (workgoup) with a W2k3 server configured as a DHCP and RRAS
server with several Demand dial connections. Clients in LAN have ping to and
back from the server.
When connected to a Demand dial interface, there is a ping from the server
to the other end of the connection, and also the reply. However, when I try
to ping the server at the other end of the demand dial connection from a
client in LAN, there is no ping.
I checked on the routing table (all are the static routes) and everything
seems to be right. I am sure there is a problem at the server but still have
no solution.
Any help is welcome.
Cheers.

we need more information to help. posting the result of both sites ipconfig /all may help.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I can't provide you with the =
ipconfig/all information for the server at the other side of the demand =
dial connection since it is administrated by an administrator of that =
company and I can't get in touch with him at the moment. But, I think =
that there is a Linux server in question.
However, this is what I can provide you with:
The LAN scope at my company is 192.168.0.50 - 100/24, and the RRAS =
server address is 192.168.0.254, static of course. The network address =
of the other company is 192.168.2.0/24 and when the demand dial =
connection is established, the address for the PPP adapter is provided =
by the company's router and is 192.168.2.253. The address of the server =
that I ping from my company RRAS server is 192.168.2.3, and the reply is =
ok. When I do the same from a workstation in my LAN, I receive request =
time out. Since the ping reply is received by the RRAS server, I assume =
that it doesn't know how to forward it to the workstation i.e. to the =
clients in LAN.
I hope this will be of some kind helpful to you.
Cheers.

this is routing issue. assuming the workstation default gateway is the router and the router doesn't have information how to route to 192.168.2.0/24. We have similar discussion on this link.

Workstation cannot access remote resources via demand-dial VPN
What I want to achieve now is make 101 machine access the remote network by VPN on RRAS. It seems I just need redirect traffic on 101 to 100 and then go out by the VPN interface. But I have no clue how to set it.
