Roaming Profile? what roaming profile?

I have a user where everytime he logs into the network he gets an error
message that says that his roaming profile can't be found.

Locally, his profile is set as local. In AD, he has nothing in the
profile path. I'm not sure where it's getting the idea that he should
have a roaming profile.

has anyone seen this before?

thanks,

What is the exact text of the error message & what do you see in the event
logs?

I have not seen that but have him try to logon another domain computer to
see what happens and try creating a new test account for him to logon with
to see if it happens then.

Check if the user is known on the server. Does he have the rights to
authenticate and leave his profile on the domain?
Else, try to disconnect the client from the domain, and then reactivat eon
the domain.

I'm not at that site right now, but the error was something along the
lines that windows couldn't find his roaming profile so it would use
the computer's default profile (which happens to be his local profile)
he gets a couple of userenv errors in the event log I think 1058 or
1055 saying the same thing, I looked all through eventid.net for
solutions, but they didn't have anything there for me.

Check out Stephen's reply for some ideas - but in addition, download and
install the following on all your workstations:
