Stan, any suggestions on how to log in to the one that is there, I think it
is the local one cuz I see it on my harddrive but I don't know how to log in
to it

I'm not sure how your system is setup, so can you tell me exactly how you
logged on before the group policy and what changed after enabling it. You
should go back to how you originally logged in if you changed anything.

here goes, Windows would ask me for a password, it still puts in the same
user tchan, and I see the tchan folder in documents and setting, this time
though I put in the password and it says that it cannot copy a file which
has something to do with realplayer, adn then it begins a countdown, and
then it say loading personal profile and then a nother screen pops u pthat
says, connto load profile, windows is creating a temp rpfile for you, any
changes will not be saved when you log off.

OK thanks. That info clears up a lot. First, is your username tchan a part
of the Administrators group? Second, make sure you disabled that group
policy and restarted the computer? Then let me know when you have do this
and we'll continue.

hey stan, I know this may sound strange, but how do I tell if tchan is part
of the group and second how do I disable, this is a little above my
knowledge so I have to ask detailed steps so i don't screw it up,

Thanks

Don't worry about that. 1) Right-click My Computer and select Manage. In the
Computer Management window expand Local Users and Groups. Select Groups and
then double click Administrators to see if tchan is listed. This will just
tell us what you have permission to do.

2. From the Run box. Type 'gpedit.msc' In the Group Policy console, expand
Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>System>Logon. Double-click
the "delete cached roaming profiles" (This should be the same thing you
enabled earlier) and click Disabled.

Restart the computer. Try to logon like normal and let me know what happens.

stan, I haven't had time to actually do the steps you gave me, ill let you
know saturday. in the meantime, I had a few other questions, how do I know
which one is the roaming profile???? if I look in documetns and settings,
how does one decide which it is???

Also, if you can't logon on , I have read that a default profile is created
and then the contents are copied, what is the order of tasks , the reason I
ask is that my profile is over 3 gigs and now I am thinking that if it has
to copy on each boot up(it takes about 25 minutes while it says "loading
personal settings" that if I can shrink it or make it the local profile , it
won't take so long.

what are your thoughts

Sorry, I've also been really busy. So the profile is still 3 gigs? I thought
it was deleted. What's the status of everything?

Stan, okay, I spend this afternoon playing around, one thing that I have
noticed is that more and more problems are popping up as thought my settings
are missing within programs.

For example, I am having problems in microsoft offcie, as an example, I will
try to forward emails from my inbox and I get the message that the "could
not forward, object not found"

In Firefox browser for example, when I download a file, it auto downloads to
the desktop , however it is the desktop in the profile that I thought I
deleted so I have to manually cut and paste the files.

The list goes on and on, and the rough thing is that I don't really know
what and when something is going to go wrong, it just is a discover as I go
scenario.

So here is where I am, I need a plan of action, what is happening is that i
am starting to waste large amounts of time and pulling my hair out trying to
fix individual problems. So for example, I am heavily dependent on outlook
and so I spent a bunch of time trying to reinstall outlook which was in
itself a disaster. So anyway, when I try to resinstall, it doesn't reinstall
in that profile.

Is there any way I could email you directly cuz I am at wits end and I think
I am going to have to solve my problem at the root, and not tackle the
symptons.

Thanks, my email is (e-mail address removed)

I think it would be better to keep the discussion here. I don't know exactly
what you did and exactly what you are experiencing so it is not easy at all
for me to give you a perfect plan of action. I told you to delete the
roaming proflie because you said you never used it but based on your
problems it sounds like you were using it. Did you disable that group policy
that I told you about earlier? You need to start rebuilding a new profile.
When you look in the 'C:\Documents and Settings' who is listed there?
