Right click My Computer = not able to get System Properties window

I have XP along with SP2. Somehow I have lost the ability to get to "System
Properties" after right clicking "My Computer". When I right click "System
Properties" and then click on "Properties" all I get is a window that shows
and is titled "Properties" on "My Computer". If I remember correctly I used
to be able to get the "System Properties" window after right clicking in "My
Computer's" properties line. I talking about the options of "System Restore",
"Automatic Updates", and the other optional tabs in the "System Properties"
window. How can I get the ability to get the V window after right clicking on
"My Computer" then clicking on the "Properties" line or option?

If you right click on the My Computer icon on the Desktop select
Properties and the windows which opens is titled System Properties. It
should contain the tabs you are looking for. If you do not have a My
Computer icon on the Desktop and want one please say.

Another approach is to select Start, Control Panel, System and this
opens a window containing the tabs.

A third route is to hold down the Windows (Start) +E keys and this
opens Windows Explorer at the My Computer location. Right click and
select Properties to see the tabs.

Hope this helps.

Here's another way to view System Properties:

Start | Run | (type) sysdm.cpl | OK

Just out of curiosity, what happens when you hit the Windows key and the
Pause/Break key at the same time?

The answer is dependent on the status of the F Lock key.

F Lock key enabled and the key combination turns the Scroll Lock On or
Off depending whether it was On or Off. F Lock key not enabled and it
opens My Computer with System Properties / tabs displayed. Neat trick if
you happen to know the current status of the F Lock key.

This answer may depend on the type of keyboard software / type being
used.
