ok ive turned off all running programs, ive updated, ive gone to the ea website to try and fix this game, nuthin ive done helps, is there anyone else who may know a solution.im playim return of the king and after first scene finishes i get this error........code c0000005 at 004801f9 and it shuts down.thankyou

Hi Darrell,

That's a common issue for people who are trying to play
the game with a copy instead of the original. If you have
that error with the original, contact EA SUPPORT and
report the issue to them. They can provide you with a
patch or a replacement CD. This is not a Windows XP
issue. This is an issue with the game / game media itself.
