restricted web access

M

M Temperton

Hi folks

I need to restrict internet access to a limited account user on XP Home
Ed.(Machine2) Access needs to be limited to 3 or 4 named websites only.

I have 2 machines in a peer to peer home network in a workgroup
environment.

Machine1 runs XP Pro - IE6 - Internet sharing - XP Firewall and is the
internet gateway.

Machine2 runs XP Home - IE6 - Internet sharing .

Can IE6 and XP provide my answer or should I be looking to managed firewalls
or a domain client / server scenario?

Thanks in Advance

Martin

you create a batch file for the users who don't need the internet. the batch
will re-set internet settings when logon.

Hi Martin,

We have some software that will be of use to you called Browse
Control. It allows you to Control Internet access by being able to
turn the internet on/off, schedule these times and also allow you to
WHITE LIST sites. This way you can turn the net off but still allow
access to your approved named websites. This application is EXTREMELY
easy to use, and shouldnt take you more than 5-10 minutes to set it
up. You also won't have to deal with writing complicated code and
patches to get this to work.

You can download the free trial from:

Hope this helps you out

Robert,

Exactly what settings are set to restrict to specific web pages?
