Restore in safe mode only

L

Hi,
I can only restore my machine in safe mode. If I try restoring the normal
way, I eventually get an error message "an unexpected error has occurred...,
the restore process has aborted" (or something of that nature...).
Although, at the end of the day, I can use previous restore points, I'd like
to understand WHY such a situation occurs?
Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance
Jean

I just restored my pc to a feb.1st restore point but also had to do it in
safe mode..It worked, so what is the problem? Maybe there are too many
running programs in the regulat desktop..anyway, it worked in safe mode and i
am happy..

If you are using Norton, disable to do SR; it causes probs with system restore.
In Safe mode, norton does not have all its functions running.

You are forced to conclude that some driver you are loading in Normal mode
has some trouble with restore. Take a look at this site for info. (I would
suspect something in USB or some unique hardware feature that you system
has.)
Here are some troubleshooting steps to take when System Restore fails to
restore: http://bertk.mvps.org/html/srfail.html

A very difficult (for the experts here) Restore Point
problem on my computer was just solved by activating the
hidden Administrator and doing SFC /scannow. Credit to
