restarts when i click shut down

when i downloaded the latest Microsoft updates the other day, the Illegal
System DLL Relocation box came up for me, but i fixed the problem by
downloading the KB935448 fix. that night when i tried to shut down my
computer, it restarted instead. so i turned off the automatic restart option
and tried to shut down again. it gave me the BSOD error,
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and STOP: 0X0000000A (there were more details on the
BSOD but i didn't write all of it down)

i haven't downloaded any new hardware recently, so i'm guessing the problem
is when i downloaded the fix for the Illegal System DLL Relocation? i've
tried updating a few of my drivers, but i wasn't sure which drivers i'm
supposed to update. i tried researching in other sites and they suggested it
might be that my BIOS is outdated, but i'm not sure how you check the BIOS.

if you can, please help me. thanks!
