Restart

After using disc cleanup (after a low disc space warning) My PC will not
restart. It will shut down and will start when the button is pressed. If I
click on the restart icon it says windows is logging of etc and goes to a
black screen and stays like that. I cannot use restore as the files were
deleted on disc cleanup.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Windows XP's Disk Cleanup should not do that because it only removes safe
files, such as Temp files, etc.

It looks as if you might have a virus or spyware infection that has made
that happen, so scan the system with updated scanners of the kind listed on
this page:

If you need the Restart feature back, try a repair installation of XP, which
requires the XP CD. Read this page for more information on doing that -
