REQ: Convert avi to dvd and burn - Help Please

B

Bob Vickers

I guess I am to dumb for words.

I have been trying for over two weeks to convert avi to dvd and burn a disk
that will play on a regular DVD player.

I have tried different software and combinations, After burning I test the
disks on 2 different players with one displaying "no disk" and the other
saying something like "cant play this disk type - insert another type disk"

I even bought another DVD burner thinking It might be the problem.

I sure am doing something (If Not Everything) Wrong.

Is there a tutorial that will walk me through it?

Please help if you can.

I think it can be a very simple solution to your problem.
Not all DVD players can read all kind of DVD discs,
some can read DVD-R and DVD+R discs and some
can only read DVD+R or DVD-R discs.
So try another kind of disc.

I know of only one "fool proof" solution, that is to change
the bitsetting in DVD burners, so when the burner make
a DVD disc it change the identification on the disc from
DVD-R or DVD-R to DVD-ROM. Some burners let you do
that direct from the "box", other burners you have to upgrade
the burners firmware with a patched firmware that allows
changing the bitsetting.

If you have a NEC DVD burner then you can get a patched
firmware from this site. http://liggydee.cdfreaks.com/

And on this site you can find more stuff about
DVD burner firmware. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_all.php

Please be advised:
You flash your drive with a patched firmware at your own risk.
In downloading and flashing or using a patched firmware,
you agree to accept responsibility.
You also accept that by flashing or using a patched firmware,
you also give up the right to make any warranty claim against
the DVD burner manufacture in case something goes wrong.
