Replacing H.D.

Willy_the_C.

I just had to replace my Mobo. while I did the change, I
went ahead and put in a bigger H.D. How can I change from
One H.D. to the Other by have the new H.D. as Master and
the older smaller H.D. as the slave. I reinstalled Win XP
Pro on the new H.D. at that is All I have. everything
else is on the other H.D. and I need to chage everything
over.
Thanks to anyone who helps

You will need to install your applications again, or get
some software to clone the old drive to the new one, this
will mean that you will want to have the new drive freshly
formatted. Get the details from the drive maker's web site.
Personally, I would rather do a clean install of the
applications, and then just copy the data files as needed.

On the basis of my own experience, I would definitely
recommend doing it this way as well. Some applications are
coded to look for the modules etc that they need on the HD
on which they were originally installed. I discovered that
moving them to another drive (using the HD manufacturer's
wizard) confused those programs mightily.

The new hard drive should have came with a utility
to accomplish this chore, usually on a floppy. Follow
the directions explicitly. The best way is to print out
the instructions.

It also often comes on a Bootable CD and may require a repair operation
after transfering the data they way you are talking about :)
