Rename a Active Directory Domain

Hi,
I've configured a domain called "mydomain.it" with Active directory of
windows 2000 server.
Now I must rename this domain in "mydomain.local" .
how can I do?
I find a rename tool but is only for windows 2003.... how can I rename my
windows 2000 domain????

The short answer is.... you can't.

You can bring up the new domain and migrate everything over to it. This
is a bit of work and probably not worth it unless you have a real need to
make the change. What is the impetus driving the naming change? Maybe we
can help you solve your specific problem without renaming the domain.

There may be some 3rd party tools that could help you, but I would be very
cautious in something like this and stick to the supported MS solutions.

I agree with Ryan, I just want to add that if you're using a 3rd party
solution. Make sure it's a Microsoft supported tool. You don't want to end
up loosing your support benefits just because you used the "wrong" 3rd party
tool.
