Removing the old CPU fan and heatsink and installing the new one.

You spotted it as well. I put him at 13, but I conceed he could be younger.
He did claim in a previous post (and under another name) to be of working
age, but that is clearly not the case, unless he really is seriously
mentally ill, but then who would employ him?
Nope. Not even close. Try 43, with an MBA, retired once and now in
second career. That's why I can read, see. I can also comprehend
what a group title means.

Hey, you want me stop posting then get people to stop posting
off-topic garbage here.

Look I figure you are talking to me about this. Old Duke thinks you are
talking about him. Well, maybe you are talking to both of us. You are the
liberal piece of you know what. I voted for Bushy Babe and if it wasn't for
him, we'd be getting blown up by fanatics on are corners. If we were not in
Iraq now, where would these fanatical muslims go to kill Americans, HERE!
Now when a fanatic wants to go kill americans and western europeans they go
to the buzz saw Iraq. Let them go to the buzz saw to get chopped up there.
Better there than here. And as far as WMD, weapons of mass destruction, he
had them and had them transfered to Iran. If you don't think he had them,
then he was on his way to making an atom bomb. Where was he going to use it.
Isreal would have been first on the target. Do you think Isreal would have
let that happen without using their atom bombs back on Iraq, no way in hell.
I'm not a jew, but I feel in a civilized world we need the jews.
Ok, getting back to the hardware PCs. Push down and pull out. That's it.
Simple. And your the one who is putting out hostile bs. Look into the mirror
and take a good look.
Thanks, attilathehun1

Hey, what does being in Iraq have to do with ANY of the terrorist acts
ever done on US Soil? NOTHING. None of those terrorists were trained
in or even from Iraq.

However, this drivel does not belong here. Take it to a political
board.

Then that makes you a ****ing liar as well as ****wit. There is no way
someone with those qualifications would be as obsessed as you are.

The only person posting garbage here is you.

Have you got a major education problem?
At least look the words up if you CANNOT spell them.
Reckon one of these days someone is going to put you out of your misery.
Ever heard of a spell checker?

1. Go find the highest building there is where you live.
2. Get to the top of it.
3. Jump off
Or if you are too stupid to even know how to follow simple instructions then
go back to third grade and start over.

Everyone else is running down OldDuke. OldDuke runs down anyone who posts
topics that he (and he alone) considers off topic. No offence is intended
towards you (except by OldDuke who is just plain offensive).

Your last post was just a tad out of place here.

You know RJK I think your exactly right. I don't mind the way you told me
to
do more reading. You know how to handle a situation and not get the person
all hot and bothered. Unlike alot of chars we encounter, you handle just
right, at least this time.
Getting back to the CPU heatsink and fan removal, it's seems to be kinda
hard to do, to say the least. Especially this CPU heatsink and fan
assembly.
The mobo is a M7VIG 400 and the CPU is an AMD. I can't get the actual name
of
the CPU right off hand.
This assembly looks like a real bitch. No, actually I see now that there
is
on the other side of the assembly there is a spot that a screwdriver would
fit in perfectly. I have a feeling that's where I would begin to release
the
mechanism to get the CPU out.
What is harder to take a heatsink off or put one on? I think to take it
off
seems harder, but I've read that the pounds of pressure to use is half the
amount needed to remove it than to install it. Anotherwords, you need
40lbs
of pressure to install it and 20lbs of pressure to remove it.
Any help would be greatly appeciated.
Thanks,
attilathehun1
PS This wont take my reply so lets give it another shot.
Generally, that spot that you spotted (!) is indeed for a screwdriver. You
insert the blade and push down biasing the handle toward the processor (i.e.
the blade away from the processor. This unhooks the clamp on the heatsink
from the hooks on the socket. This is a bit more fiddly than it sounds if
you have not done it before. If you can examine a motherboard's processor
socket and a detached heatsink, you may see how it works and it will give
you an idea of how to install and remove it. It doesn't require a huge
amount of force, but it does require some force.
