Removing Canon driver info

A

Andy

I have tried to install my canon driver software but it
did not work. I requested help from Canon but they are
unable to help as windows is displaying " unable to
install driver because a previous version is present error
code 38), they say it is a windows problem. I have tried
uninstalling and I have even tried deleting every ref of
the words powershot A40 in the registry, but I am not sure
what I can and can't delete in the registry. It did not
make any difference. I did make a back up and have now
restored my original registry. Does anyone know how to
clean the registry properly of all ref to the canon camera.

When you uninstall the Canon driver, do you get a message about misc. files you can
delete, say yes to this question.
You may have better luck installing the driver in safe mode. Another option is to
open the device manager and use the troubleshooting support for this driver.
There are drivers on the Canon web site, twain and WIA
