removing avg7.5

Geek squad put avg7.5 on my computer and I can't seem to get rid of it no
matter how I try. I chatted online with them to ask them to remove it for me
but they wanted another 79.99 to do that and I already paid them 99.99 to
help me fix my computer and ended up fixing it myself. It is screwing up my
email and I called my ISP and they told me to contact geek squad to remove it
and they would but only if I pay them more money. So can anyone help me get
rid of it. I went into add and remove programs and tryed uninstall but that
didn't work either.

If they installed it without your consent, start complaining your way up the
food chain to a manager.
What errors do you get when trying to remove it?

I don't get any errors but I uninstalled it in programs and uninstalled it in
add and remove programs and it's still there I restarted the computer each
time and it doesn't want to leave. It show's up again after restart.

There are some Orphans files/folders left, it did happen to me you still see
it in the black Boot up screen.
Try to download this Tool and locate the files folders and click delete:

AVG 7.5 is actually a very good anti-virus program. And it's free.

If I were you, I would reinstall it, but *without* the e-mail scanning
component.

Download the manual:
http://blog.softmail.co.kr/attachment/bk79.pdf

See pages 14 and 15: Custom Installation

Uncheck "E-mail Scanner."

Make sure you keep the virus definitions up to date, and you'll be
protected.

Okay Brenda,
Try to CleanUp the Temp and run Disk Clean Up on your Drive, then run the
Tool and clean all on the system and the registry but be careful of what you
are pointing to and deleting.
Also you can run it on Start Up to clean up all trace and remove it from
boot sectors.

Brenda - You have received enough option for you to try - I have one comment
regarding the following statement from your post; "...but I uninstalled it
in programs and uninstalled it in
add and remove programs...".
If you actually uninstalled in that order - that is a no-no! Always
uninstall from the Control panel - if the option is not available in
Add/Remove Programs, check the application's folder for an uninstall
utility.

What problems is AVG causing? AVG is commonly recommended for use, as a
reasonable free AV program. No matter what the AV program, it should not be
set up to scan email. That can cause problems. You can turn off email
scanning from inside AVG, or install it without that component.

The normal way to uninstall a program is from Add/Remove programs. I'm not
sure what you meant in another post that you tried to remove it through
programs and also through add/remove programs.

One trick, if you can't uninstall a program is to reinstall it, then try the
uninstall.

Another option is to post to an AVG forum. By the way best not to post your
true email address in a newsgroup.

Yes, amazingly fast, especially when compared to NAV which used to
infest my machine.
