Remove Windows Logo From Start Button

1. Does anyone know how to remove that Windows Logo from the START button
in Windows 2000 Server/Professional?
2. Does anyone know how to remove the "Windows 2000 Server" text along the
vertical after you hit Start?
3. Does anyone know how to remove the Splash screen Windows logo when
Windows is booting? I recal from my Win95 days you just set LOGO=0 in the
msdos.sys file but I am not sure if that is the case with w2k.

I find all of these to be excessive and distracting.

Thanks

You have to "hack" explorer.exe to do that, not something that is very
highly recommended! But it is not very difficult to do with a hex
editor. You might find it even more "excessive and distracting" if you
get OS or other errors after hacking explorer.exe...

I have the hex editor but the directions I read to change the start button
text did not match with what I found experimentally. If it is only hex to
look thru, that can be done but I wouldn´t know how a windows logo is
represented in hex. Secondly, I do not beleive any hex needs to be edited
for the Win2000 Boot Splash screen. I guess I´ll sit back and wait for some
more explicit hexing instructons.

Thank you. I had not been able to find something on changing the winICON on
Start Menu. Guess I´ll try to find someting on the "Windows 2000 Server"
text removal later if these two work. One step at a time. Thanks for your
assistance.

Hook99 by Lado Brisar

Description: Hook99 enables the user to customize the start button. You
can change or remove the text and replace the Windows flag on button
with icon of your choice. Supports Windows icons, bitmaps and can
extract icons from executables and libraries. Hook99 can also make the
background of desktop icons captions transparent.

or google for it elsewhere

That program runs pretty well, but it runs on top of window, that is, it
must be put into startup. I think the easiest way to do all of this is just
with resource hacker and edit each Windows icon and switch out explorer.exe
by putting the hd into another w2k box. That Hook99 is pretty safe and easy
though. No restart required. Thanks for all the advise.
