Remove short cut to selected programs on start up

When the computer starts up certain programs spring into life that I don't
want e.g., narrator. How do you view the setup of such programs in Vista
windows to prevent them doing this?

Go into control Panel> Ease of Access> turn it off from starting at Startup
Also, Start>Programs>Accessories>Run> msconfig > OK> see what you have
starting at startup

Hi Pete,

For things like the narrator, you would want to look in the Control
Panel/Ease of Access center. For third party software you've installed, you
want to check within that program's options/preferences/settings to disable
it from loading as part of the startup group.

For things not quite so easy to discern, you can also use the system
configuration utility or windows defender to block them. This is usually a
last resort as it's better to disable them from within the programs own
controls rather than forcibly disable them.
