Remove program name from Add or Remove programmes

I am trying to remove a programme by highlighting it and hitting "Remove"

in the Add or Remove Programmes page of Settings.

It fails, saying it can't find the program.

I know that most of the programme's details have long since gone.

Sometimes when this happens, the option to remove the listing is offered,

but not always.

When it's not, is there any way to remove it manually?

Hi Don,

In the registry, navigate to:
HKLM\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\uninstall

Expand the key and then check each entry until you find the one for the
program you're trying to remove (some are named which makes it a lot
easier, but the one you're looking for may be named like {XXX-Xx} ).
Delete the key and it will be removed from Add/Remove.

Start, run, regedit
goto:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

That's why it can't find it.

When Add/Remove Programs doesn't work, the best thing to do is usually
to reinstall the program, then remove it with Add/Remove Programs.
