Remove Netware Client

Mike

Anyone know how to remove a Netware network client through
group policy? We are converting from Netware NDS to
Windows AD, and it would make life easier if we did not
have to logon to each machine as administrator and remove
the Netware client.

Thanks,
Mike

Not exactly.
You may use SNETCFG to remove a network component from a client.
SNETCFG is available at www.jsiinc.com/reghack.htm
Take a look at tip 4195, too.

The INF for the Netware Client will be copied to the client's
%Systemroot%\inf directory under a unique name (unique for each
workstation, sorry for that).

You may have to browse the registry (REG QUERY) under
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\{4D36E973-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\{891E31DF-4C0C-45F6-AE57-9C786A202ED1}
to find the name and use this in a batch.

I don't know if it is possible to use the INF for the novell client
from a different directory (only an option if the novell client has
the same version for each workstation).

Not knowing why on earth you would like to move from NDS to iAD, but you can script UNC32.exe to remove the client. Still you have to roll out the ms client (or if they are already installed, you will be having performance problems at this time).

UNC32 is part of CLIENT32 for 24-bit client OS, not part of NetWare
Client for NT/2000/XP.

Hi,

I understand your opinion. -))
Nevertheless there are possible reasons to move from NDS to the
chaotic world of
AD. One is the existence of a very easy to implement terminal
server. Unfortunately there is no equivalent in the netware world for this.

I prefer NDS, but I am being forced to phase it out, the
big dogs are sold on AD. Thanks.
