Can't remove Netware client

I am having no luck removing the Novell netware client from my machine. I
have checked in the connection properties and also in the add/remove programs
and it doesn't appear at either location. My problem is that when I try to
enable fast user switching and the welcome screen I get the error that Novell
Netware client has dissabled fast user switching, remove netware client ot
enable..

I can't find it to remove it.

Help!!

You need to go to Network Connection. Have you got an icon for network
connection in your taskbar? If so then right click on it and click on
Open Network Connections. If this not available, try:

Start, Connecet to, Show All connections

When this opens, in the General Tab you will see an item for Netware
client if you deliberately installed it. Normally, this is not
installed by default unless you are using a Novell Network.

If you are using Novell Network then it is not a good idea to uninstall
it otherwise you can go ahead and uninstall it.

As I said , I have already gone to network connections and checked the
properties of all of my connections. NONE of them have a netware client
shown. I even tried installing and then un-installing the netware client and
still it won't let me change to fast user switching.

Have you recently installed Imsi's tool called Locbox or similar? If so
then you need to uninstall it. Imsi is a motherboard maker and
distributes this tool on a CD with drivers. It is not harmful but it
stops you from switching users and/or going into stanby etc. It
effectively gives you a WinNT 4/ Win2000 type interface by default and
you have to press CNTRL+ALT+DEL to log on.

There is also an option in XP to do this but I am guessing you have not
done this.

No, I haven't installed Locbox or anything similar. Is there some registry
key that controls the access to the welcome screen that I could change?

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried it last night but there was no change.
None of the keys specified for deletion existed and adding the MSGINA.DLL (it
didn't exist in the registry either) didn't help. I am getting pretty
frustrated. It looks like my only option is to "nuke and pave" to do a
complete re-install of windows to a freshly formated drive. This will really
stink but I don't see another option.

You need to get the UNC which is a Uninstall Novell Client app. This
is usally included with the Novell client.
