remove hardware icon program

how do i remove the 'remove hardware icon' program from the taskbar
i've recently just completed a new re install but the above program wishes
to remove the drivers for my modem which is working fine.

Is your modem plugged into a usb port?

You can hide the icon but not remove it...

To customize notifications
1 Right-click the taskbar, and then click Properties.
2 On the Taskbar tab, under Notification area, select the Hide inactive
icons check box.
3 Click Customize.
4 In the Name column, click the notification you want to change, in the
Behavior column, click the behavior you want in the list, and then click OK.
5 On the Taskbar tab, click Apply.
