Removal of Journal Viewer from Win XP

I have been unable to use Adobe Reader and when I tried to uninstall
Windows Journal Viewer I keep getting a Windows Installtion error
message. "The windows Insaller Service could not be accessed. This can
occur if you are running windows in Safe Mode or if Windows Installer
is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for
assistance." I get a similar message when I try to install or
uninstall Adobe reader. I also tried to repair the program but this
did not work either.

Have you been able to install any other program using Windows Installer?

It didn't do me any good, so I had to rebuilt my system from scratch.

Also try this:

From Start, go to Run. Type SERVICES.MSC and hit enter.

In the list, find the Windows Installer service. Double-click on it, and
make sure the "startup type" is set to manual. (It's probably already set
to 'manual' but I just wanted to make sure it didn't get changed somehow.)
