Remote Procedure Call service termination

I have a new installation of Windows XP. Everything seems
to be working OK except when I am web browsing (Internet
Explorer 6.0). After a random amount of time varying from
less that 1 minute to several minutes, I get an error
message saying the computer is shutting down due to a
Remote Procedure Call (RPC) service termination. I then
have 60 seconds to save files, etc before the computer
shuts down and restarts.

What's going on, and how can I eliminate this problem?
Any help would be appreciated.
