Remote Procedure Call - Help Needed

I have a problem with windows XP, i get a strange message
saying "The system is shutting down, The shutdown was
initiated by NT AUTHROITY/SYSTEM", then it counts down 60
seconds and shuts down. It happens anywhere from 2 mins to
an hour after i connect to the internet through a 56k
modem. The message was "windows must now shut down
because the remote procedure call (RPC) service terminated
unexpectedly". Can anyone tell me what this means and how
I can fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
