Remote only let me in if user is logged on to machine and active

Remote desk top wont let me in if I am not already logged into the pc I am
trying to get into, in other words past the password prompt. The security
screen comes up I add user and password then I get a blank desktop 5 seconds
later it popes me back out. XP Pro to XP Pro systems. This stops me from
using "shutdown /r"
Remote pc has password and both check marks are checked in remote tab
properties window

I had this same problem at the office. Turned out to be our Symantec
Client Services firewall - it wasn't allowing RDP connections if someone
wasn't logged in. This made remote maint and troubleshooting just about
impossible. Maybe your firewall is doing the same thing.

To fix it we had to add an explicit rule to completely open up port 3389TCP.
