Remote Desktop XPPro to a Windows ME Machine

I have an old Windows ME machine I recently plugged into my home network. I
installed the remote desktop app on the machine, have the network configured
but I am unable to use the remote desktop app from my XP Pro machine to
access the older Windows ME machine.
Does anyone have an idea I might try?

Thanks in advance

Well, the bottom line is you can't remotely access/control a Windows ME
machine using Remote Desktop. Look at using UltraVNC as an alternative.

*To* Windows ME?
Cannot be done. Remote Desktop is not available in pre-Windows 2000 Server
(not professional) machines (called Terminal Services) and in the Windows XP
line - it is not available (as host) in Windows XP Home Edition either. You
only get Remote Assistance in Windows XP Home Edition. Similarly with the
non-business levels of Vista I believe.

The *client* - which is what you seemigly installed above - is available for
all Windows OSes (and Mac OS X.) As its name implies though - it is the
CLIENT only - allowing you to connect to hosts using it.

What you can do is install a third party remote control application. I
highly recommend UltraVNC.

Thanks for the GREAT suggestion! I installed the product in less than 10
minutes and it fires up without any problem at all.

I bought the old box in 2000 with ME on it and believe it or not have never
had any problems with it whatsoever. There are three programs on the machine
I like to continue to use on occasion and I would never be able to re-install
them on my newer machine. The remote access is perfect for what I need and
the program suggested is just the ticket - Thanks
