Remote Login and Domain Security Policy

Hello,

I have following two questions that I need to find out from experts in this
news group.

1. If a workstation is connected to the network but has not joined a
domain, will remote login be available (local login and/or domain login)? If
remote login is possible, what security policy is in effect after login.

2. Is it possible for security policy settings, security patches,
and/or critical updates to be pushed down to workstations that are not joined
to the domain, in other words by only physically connecting them to the
network?

It will be even better if there is a whitepaper or microsoft site where I
can reference to these question.... Many thanks in advance.

If they have an account in the domain they can log in using
domainname\username and the password associated with that domain account.
Since they are not part of the domain they will use their computer's local
policy.

By security policies I assume you mean domain security policies? If so they
won't get them That is one reason to join the computer to the domain.

Patches and updates really depends on what software you are using to push
out the updates. Check the documentation that came with the software.
