Remote Desktop won't start

Strange Windows XP problem here. I enable Remote Desktop via the 'Remote'
tab in the system properties but I can not connect to the XP machine via
Remote Desktop. Typing 'netstat -a' it becomes apparent that there is
nothing listening on port 3389 (Remote Desktop Port).

Anybody have any suggestions in troubleshooting this?
