I have XP Multi-media Edition at home. I have XP Pro at work. I can connect
my Remote Desktop from my home to work. If while connected to work I can
connect (test) to home and receive a logon screen (session open). When I
close the connection from home to work and go to work I can not connect at
all (timeout). If I leave the connection from home to work (session still
open) I can connect and run Remote Desktop on the home machine.
I have checked router (Netgear) it is set up correctly to allow port
forwarding (as proven by above test). I have checked settings in Windows
Firewall and Exceptions for Remote Desktop is checked (Edit reveals Port
3389 – scope any). On the Advanced Tab, (Local Area Connection) shows Remote
Desktop checked.
I can connect if the open session has been initiated from the home computer.
Any suggestions??
Thanks,
TJ
