Remote desktop display missing wallpaper

Jay

Hi,

I am having problem of missing wallpaper, when I connect to target via
remote desktop connection. When the target boots I can see the wallpaper on
the desktop, but when I connect to target via remote desktop the wallpaper
is missing. This is a SP1 based build.

Any clue?

TIA

Jay,

Check you .rdp file you use to create the RDP session.
Is the "disable wallpaper:i:1" option set there?

Also, make sure the XPe Terminal Server color depth setting reflects you client color depth request.
The settings are under [HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Terminal Server\WinStations\RDP-Tcp] key (ColorDepth=3 or 4).

Hi KM,

Thanks for the information I tried that but I still needed additional
setting in Terminal services ( as a default wallpaper is disabled) I had to
configure (ADD) MMC snap_In and navigate to terminal services and change
the setting to enable wall paper on remote desktop connection.

Details can be found at

I do appreciate your suggestions.

Jay

Jay,

This is the right policy. If not specified, the default will be to not show the wallpaper in a terminal session.

You can tweak (pre-set up) this option in your image by setting "fNoRemoteDesktopWallpaper"=dword:0 registry under
[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Terminal Services] key.
(just put it in TD Configuration Extra Registry section)
