Remote Assistance

I've just given my father in law one of my old PC's and am starting to
wonder WHY? I spend more time on the phone with him than any son in law
should ever have to. Anyway I am running XP pro but he is running Windows
2000, what options do I ahve to do remote assistance that he would be able
to activate? He is 600 miles away so I'd like to set it up next time I am
there. What programs will work with XP remote assistance? Is it possible to
do an XP Upgrade? or just a new install?

Have you tried to look at using another remote support tool like UltraVNC?
This is free and works with most Windows verions (except 3.1.)

He wants to be best buddies .. I think you have an opportunity there for
building solid family relationships. Don't talk to fast and put a lilt into
the sound of it. You will have the ol' man eating out of your hand. Oh ..
and if on the phone he can hear you speaking to your lovey dovey numero uno
should she enter the room, make sure that you sound like you are taking good
kind care of her. He will leave you everything.

Oddly. If your wife suddenly has a problem with you. Your
"father-in-law" will treat you as an outsider....

As if you've never been friendly to him....
