Remote Assistance etc thru routers & internet

Can anyone give guidance to setting up remote assistance
between 2 PCs (work - XP Home, home - XP Pro) where both
are connected to the internet by cable modem and both are
part of small networks, which are connected to the cable
modem via D-Link 704P routers.

Or if not remote assistance, how about just becoming a
member of the work network from home?

Anyone?

Thanks,

Ensure port 3398 is open on your router for the specific IP addresses of the computers. You may have to set it up for several IP addresses if you have more than one machine. I have a Linksys system and that worked to get Remote Assistance working in my home, however, I'm still have difficulty giving RA to a computer somewhere else on the net. Good luck.
