i have xp pro- i connect to cable, after trying to set up
a home network, i could not get online anymore- my isp
said its a microsoft problem and mircosoft said its a isp
promlem-- i have tried in command promt -
ipconfig/release... no change, ipconfig/renew... error
nosocket. i have diconnected network, shut down modem,
rebooted xtimes, i also tried "netsh int ip reset
resetlog.txt" no change- also "netsh int ip reset
c:\reset.txt" no luck. i ran a network diag- it worked
fine. if i put another computer on line w/ same cable
modem - it works just fine. i cant get my first computer
to release its 169.254.x.y ip address. i had norton
installed on computer- now it is uninstalled. and worst-
my system restore was not turned on before this happened.

i am in need of a fix, please help.

[If you have suddenly lost your Internet connection after removing spy-ware
