This may sound dumb to some of you, but I don't know alot about my computer
yet even after 3 yrs. I have gotton some advise to reinstall my windows xp.
Please help me in understanding what it is that I must do if I do this. I
have banking and other things that I need to save I believe if I do this. I
do not have backup on this so how do I back up the things that I need to
save. And can I put them back on the computer where they need to be. Hope
you can help me?

Actually the best "back up" utility in xp is the file transfer
wizard.Install the xp
cd,open file transfer wizard on menu screen, set as old computer, select the
files,
folders, settings for it to save, save the data in a folder that you
create,once the
data is saved, move to a cd.Once xp is reinstalled, open the wizard, set as new
computer.

Why do you think you need to reinstall Windows? Before you start such a major procedure, you should be certain that it's necessary.

Do you want to do a reinstall, where you install Windows over itself, or do you want to do a clean install, where you erase everything and start from scratch?

If you don't know the answers to these questions, friend, you're not ready to reinstall Windows and you shouldn't attempt it.

Here's more friendly advice: Time for you to learn more about operating your computer. Otherwise you are courting disaster. First thing to learn: how to backup.
