Reinstalling windows components

I have tried to reinstall windows components from my XP disc, principally Fax
services and Paint, and keep getting error messages saying the computer
cannot find files. the messages sometimes ask if I want to look in Service
Pack folders. Any ideas - I have been able to install components before, but
cannot remember if I have done so since installing service pack 2.

Have you told it to look in the Service Pack folders? Many files are updated during a Service Pack installation. If you're given the opportunity to browse to a location to find the files, these are usually stored in C:\Windows\ServicePackFiles

Thanks - it didn't work but seemed to be half-way there. The files in
question (well, the three of four I tried with) were in the location you
suggested, but the dialog box still said it couldn't copy the file. The ones
I'm trying to reinstall are all either fax or accessories. Thanks again,
