Reinstall Windows XP Service Pack 2

Guest

I have been told that I need to re-install W XP Service Pack 2. I am not
able to locate the software. When I go to the XP update page I receive a
message that states that I already have SP 2 installed.

I need to get out of this loop and find a way to reinstall SP 2. What ideas
do you have?

Who told you you needed to reinstall SP2?

Or do you mean you were told to reinstall Windows XP?

What is your actual problem? You may find many here will be able to walk
you through a solution.

Let me rephrase the help request. I still have SP 2 installed on my
computer. What do I need to do to reinstall the software? After I unintall
the software, where do I locate a new version of SP 2?

I have been told that I need to re-install W XP Service Pack 2.

Told by whom? Why? Are you sure that's correct? I think it's highly
doubtful.

Also note that the phrase "reinstall Windows XP Service Pack 2" is
often used to refer to reinstalling Windows XP *with* SP2, not SP2 by
itself. It's also highly doubtful that you need to do that. If you
have problems, please explain them here; it's likely that someone can
help you and a reinstallation won't be required.

My issue started when I tried to install UPS Worldship software. I keep
getting an error MSDE Module that states that a specific module cannot load.
We tried several options but we still receive the same error. At that
point, the tech consulted with someone else in the tech dept. and they stated
that they have seen instances where once the SP 2 feature was re-installed,
et corrected the issue.

OK, if they say so. I still think it's highly doubtful. But I don't
know anything about this software myself, and can't provide any help
with it.

When I followed the instructions from MS, I have not been able to find the
Windows XP Service Pack 2 files. I have tried all three methods, including a
search of the drive and I cannot find the files. As I stated earlier, when I
logged onto the MS XP SP 2 support center, I get a message that my computer
has SP 2 already installed.

It has recently been discovered that both the Windows XP SP2 Operating
System, as well as Server 2003 SP1 "require" Microsoft's SQL MSDE SP3a.
Any version of SQL MSDE prior to this is subject to the new Security
features within SP2 shutting it down or interfering with it's operation.

If you are experiencing issues with Liberty and SQL, you will want to
update your version of SQL MSDE to SP3a. For more information on this,
you can read about SP3a here. Follow the link below to download SP3a.

Microsoft SQL Server MSDE SP3a
Link:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/8/7/5/875e38ea-e582-4ee2-9485-b459cd9c0082/sql2kdesksp3.exe

Once you have downloaded sql2kdesksp3.exe, double-click it and it will
extract itself to C:\sql2ksp3. Once this has finished extracting,
download this SP3Installer (Link:
http://www.rswpartner.com/download/SP3Installer.exe ) and save it to
C:\sql2ksp3\MSDE. Once that has finished downloading, double-click
SP3Installer.exe to install the SP3a update.

***NOTE***
Before you make any major changes to any computer system, it is
important that you have Backups of your important data. Make sure you
have a functional copy of your RWDDATA.ZIP Liberty Backup before
installing any updates. Resaleworld.com does not support SQL Server
troubleshooting. If you have any questions about SQL or Databases,
contact your System Administrator or your certified local PC/Network
Technician.

UPS WorldShip Integration, ODBC and Service Pack 2 (SP2)

Currently, when attempting to integrate Liberty and UPS WorldShip via
the UPS Link, there are some issues with the way Windows is talking to
SQL via the ODBC Connection Manager.

When going through the UPS Link Setup, you will be brought into the
Windows ODBC Connection Manager and will be asked to choose a Server
(choices would be (local), "YOURSERVERNAME", etc.). If you are seeing
duplicates in this list (i.e., 2 (local), etc.), then you will need to
update your version of Microsoft's SQL Server MSDE.

Follow the links below to Microsoft's Website for instructions on how to
download and install SQL Server MSDE SP3a. Once this has been updated,
you will need to re-run the UPS Link Setup. When you are finally brought
to the steps to choose either "Windows Authentication" or "SQL
authentication", choose "SQL" and enter 'report' as the Username and
Password. If you receive a SQL Server "driver" error, contact
Resaleworld.com Technical Support for assistance.

I did a clean reinstall my xp pro and then installed my service pack 2
software. I sent for the disk( service pack 2) when I had dialup around 2.5
years ago. It was around the time that the service patch just came out. i
since had to reinstall it and get the updated pack from microsofts update
sight. I did upgrade my service to high speed dsl when lessened my download
time conciderably. It worked fine uo until a few months ago I was told that I
had to many missing files that to wipe it out and start over. I am now back
to that piont one week latter after the reinstall. Can someone tell me where
I can get a disk that has the service pack 2 without any bugs? The one I have
keeps delleting my hkey root files which control my hardware and software I'm
getting hang ups using my dvd /cd player. My next computer will be a Mac.

reasons for re-install: my uniblue registry boster found 440 files including
microsoft key tab 30 exe 62 hkey_ local filesdmscript\directory shellwindow
system 32, missing or invalid activex, ole, software setting I will fix, but
the startup sections, invalid shortcuts and shared folders section, help
section and applications path are a problem and I do not think Registry
Booster can help me at this point, nor has the softwares xp pro recovery
console has done any repairing of my window installation. In fact it made it
worse.I have ordered the service pack 2 disk, and I have all other disk and
any fixes with software and drivers I will get from Dell's service sight.I
have ran out of free help from microsoft and I don't have that deep of
pockets to afford an expert, so I'm going by trail and error to learn it. I
have window inside out and a pc maintenance and trouble shooting field guid
to help : ) Thank u for your reply.
