Reinstall oddities

Hello all, I have reinstalled Vista Home Premium, and downloaded all patches
for it etc. What I notice now is that all the Windows items have gone from
the start menu, DVD maker, movie maker, media player etc. How can I recover
the shortcut to launch DVD maker and movie maker? I found the shortcut for
media centre already, thanks. Do I need to do a repair install?

Hi,

Click start and start typing in any of those program names and they will
appear in the menu.

I have tried that, to no avail. Before I started downloading the windows
updates, in my start menu on a fresh install, I could see DVD maker, movie
maker, media centre, media player. After downloading all available updates,
they are no longer available. I was able to find media centre shortcut, and
media player. I would like help in discovering whereabouts the launchers for
DVD maker and movie maker reside on my C drive, if anyone can point me in
the right direction that'd be great!

When you click on the "start orb", the programs below the line are the
programs that you have used last. This list is limited to the last 9
programs by default. Therefore, if you don't use the default programs much
they will roll off the bottom of the list.

If you delete the programs that "are" showing, your missing programs will
move up the list and will again likely be seen.

Don't remember where I found that post. I've been staring at this
monitor far too long and it's time for me to crash, so I won't be able
to look it up again.

a thought - have you considered making new shortcuts (from the right-click
on the programs' .exe file) and placing them in the Start menu (where you
want them, right?)
