Registry

I would like your help in finding out what this means. I got a message that
said The system has reached the maximum size allowed for the system part of
the registry. Additional storage requests will be ignored. Any help will be
appreciated. Thanks

Which Windows version are you using? The Registry Size Limit (RSL) has
been removed from Windows XP so it is unclear as to why one would be
receiving this error message with XP.

The error message means that the system hive of the registry exceeds
some preset limit. However, AFAIK, there is no preset limit for a retail
install of Windows XP Home.

I suspect there is more to the story here. Possibly a corrupted
registry, a malware infection or some other details that are lacking.

You can compact the registry (a rarely necessary but useful procedure)
but without knowing what caused the registry to grow in the first place,
the problem could return.
