Registry Problem

SEH

As this could be a registry problem, I am posting it here. Running a Dell
Latitude CPt V466GT with Windows 2000/SP4, The following "Error" message
appears on a frequent basis in the Windows "Applications:" Event Log
(Running Eventvwr)

"Windows cannot unload your registry class file. If you have a roaming
profile, your settings are not replicated. Contact your Administrator.

DETAIL: Access is denied. Build number {{2195}."

Source is Userenv, Category "None", and Event code 1000. This is a
standalone system with no connection to any network(s), other than the
Internet, and I have Administrator control over it's settings.

The problem appears to occur on system shutdown when cross-correlated with
the timing of specific entries in the "System" Event Log.

Any rational for this? Suggestions, corrective action(s), etc?

Or, if this is the wrong Newsgroup, please re-direct me.

I'm getting exact same problem - it is a bit annoying as
it takes forever for the system to shut down. Knowledge
base attributes it to a bug that should be fixed in SP3
and suggests running SP3 as a fix. The problem on my
machine started after "automatic updates" were run. Seems
that they contained some old bugs. I tried to run SP3
again but it doesn't fix the problem now. Anyone knows how
to solve this one? More importantly why "automatic
updates" undo fixes of most recent service pack?

Try adding a new user (in administrators group). I know it
sounds spooky, but it worked for me. Before then I
reinstalled SP3, but this did not help. The problem went
away after I added new user without need to login as one.
If doesn't work - add new user and try log in as such.

good luck,

Adam

it is nice to be able to shut this piece of junk quickly!

Adam, sounds "cludgy (Sp?)". However, prior to your response, I added
myself as an administrator.

We'll see if that works.

Thanks for the thought.
