Description:
Windows cannot unload your registry class file. If you
have a roaming profile, your settings are not replicated.
Contact your administrator.

DETAIL Access is denied. , Build number ((2195)).

This is my second post on this subject. I have done tons
of research on this suybject and so far have come up with
nothing.

I have a Terminal Server - Windows 2000 - with roaming
profiles stored on a file server. Every now and then I
get the above message in the Event Viewer. It takes 60
seconds to logoff when this message appears. I have tried
uninstalling every program one at a time to find which one
is causing the problem. To no avail!! I have gone into
gpedit.msc and changed the amount of times it tries to
unload the registry to 5. It now only takes 5 seconds to
logoff, but the profile is not copied to the file server.
If they make a change to their profile and they happen to
get the error then thier changes are not saved.

Any help you could give would extremely appreciated.
Thanks

goto

Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs > Change/Remove Programs
and see if Q329170 is listed as an update if it is remove it.

plus

start > run > gpedit.msc > Computer Configuration> Administrative
Template
System > Logon > Maximum retries to unload and update user profile ...
set
enabled and to say 5 ... default if not configured is 60!!
(this will allow the logoff to go faster but the error in the event
viewer will remain)

Apparently running NET STOP SPOOLER from a CMD prompt (or putting it
into a log off script) "fixes" the problem too .. I've heard that
sharing or accessing shared printers can have an affect and that un
sharing and re sharing can help.

There appears to be a hotfix available from MS (thanks Neo)
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;814770

but you will have to telephone MS to order it.

hope that helps ... I certainly sorted out probs on my machines with
these tips

If none of Steve's workarounds fix the problem, set up a
shared network printer on the server. I think you'll discover
the problem mysteriously goes away.

MS definitely has problems with roaming profiles and print
services, unrelated to Q329170.
