Hello
I'm attempting to rehab a computer which fell victim to the Via IDE update
from Microsoft Update.
I've been able to load another version of Windows to boot the machine since
the machine gets a BSOD before any other rehab using the original Windows
install.
Now that I've backed up the user files using 21 DVD ROMS, I'm hoping to
rehab the original Windows install by changing what must be a simple
parameter so it boots up using the correct RAID driver and not whatever the
Via IDE update did to it.
Since this is a Sony machine without recovery disks, Sony's recovery
partition system will only wipe the entire drive back to factory install.
This is a path I would prefer to avoid due to its time-consuming updating of
Windows, regeneration of the users email, etc.
Shouldn't I be able to edit the registry from the original install and
correct the disk driver?
<sigh>
