Regedit and MSConfig Problems

Please help, I am running Windows XP Home Edition and when I try to run
Regedit, the screen appears for a second and then disappears and MSConfig,
won't load at all, other than that the system seems stable and everything
else is working properly. Any help will be greatly appreciated, thank you!
